Grandma Ople’s Apple Pie

This pie was amazing- probably the best apple pie I have ever had!!
It really felt like Fall baking the first pie of the season!

Finished Pie!

Whatcha Need:

1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
1/2 cup unsalted butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
8 Granny Smith apples – peeled, cored and sliced
*We also added a cinnamon, nutmeg and a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the syrup*

How to do it:

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in flour to form a paste. Add water, white sugar and brown sugar, and bring to a boil. Reduce temperature and let simmer.

Place the bottom crust in your pan. Fill with apples, mounded slightly. Cover with a lattice work of crust. Gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over the crust. Pour slowly so that it does not run off.

Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Reduce the temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes, until apples are soft.

Fall has arrived!

Sorry for the complete lack of posting- life has been busy!
Fall seems to have crept in over the weekend… the high temperature for the week is 69!
I made the most incredible apple pie over the weekend- I’m hoping to post about it soon. But if you can’t wait, here is the recipe! I also joined the YMCA over the weekend. I have never belonged to a gym in my life.. so I’m super excited! Do you guys have any recommendations on classes to take? There are so many!

September

Oh, how the changing of the seasons has an effect on me! I am loving the (slightly) cooler weather and the changing leaves. It has been a busy month so far! I have been working more than usual and classes have started again! I also hurt my back pretty badly over the weekend… go go back spasm’s! Oh well, massages work miracles! Anyway, I hope everyone is having a wonderful week.

Do you remember these guys?

Here they are today!
They have gotten so big!!
The cheery & grape tomatoes have also done really well
p.s- go get a pumpkin spice latte.

I know I am! Fall is my favorite season.. warm days and cool nights…the best combination! Curling up with a good book..

Hell! Even starting classes again is getting exciting (only 3 more classes until my bachelors!).

This season I’m looking forward to over-sized sweaters and cozy boots.
