HLS: The Cocktails

I am not a big drinker. I am such a light weight that the idea of drinking usually gives me a headache the next morning. But, when given the opportunity… I do like to enjoy a tasty beverage. Over the weekend, I had a handful of drinks at the Healthy Living Summit. Jen told me before we left NY that Philly had a great bring your own bottle policy. So, on Thursday night after we arrived I packed a bottle of wine into my purse and off we went to dinner. Once we were at Farmacia, our bottle was opened (no corking fee!) and we enjoyed a class or two of wine. The next evening was the Healthy Living Summit cocktail party! I was excited to try the Chia cocktail. It was interesting to say the least! I really enjoyed the first one, but after ordering the second one I felt that the seeds congealed a bit, making the drink  a bit off.

After the main event on Saturday, Jen, Liz & I headed out to find some drinks. We found ourselves at The Corner.  We picked this place on the fact that it had a fabulous rooftop bar and cheap drinks! We all decided to get the Boom Swagger Sangria. At first sip, this sangria surprised us all! The flavor was light and had a kick of grape fruit that really brightened it up. Later that evening, we meet up with a pretty big group of bloggers at the Loews Hotel bar. They had an extensive (and delicious looking) drink list. Most people ended up ordering the Tickled Pink. This amazing thirst quencher is a combination of tequila, chambord black raspberry liqueur, agave nectar, cranberry& lime juice. It was just enough sweet, and went down really easy. Some how, when I woke up on Sunday I wasn’t hung over! I still don’t know that miracle happened.

What was your favorite weekend cocktail??

HLS 2011- My Favorite People

One of the best parts about going to the Healthy Living Summit was the possibility to meet and get to know so many different people. Not only did I have the chance to really get to know some of my favorites, but I meet so many new people that it was overwhelming! One of the best things that I did before going to the Healthy Living Summit was splurge and make business cards with my blog information on them. I felt that staying relaxed and smiling really made approaching people a LOT easier! Feeling confident really makes a difference when meeting new people. Exchanging information with business cards was also way was less intimidating- as someone who is horrible at remembering names, I felt more comfortable exchanging cards than worrying about not remembering the name of a new blog! Here I have a couple of my favorite group shots from the weekend.

Everyone after the fun run on Sunday.

How do you stay in touch with people you have met at the Healthy Living Summit (or any other blogger meetup)?

Healthy Living Summit Newbie

This past weekend I traveled to Philadelphia for the 3rd annual Healthy Living Summit. I went without many expectations, and with the goal of meeting as many bloggers as I could (and have a great time!).  I would say that this experience was more than I could have ever anticipated, and had a fabulous time. I had the opportunity to meet bloggers that I read daily, and met new-to-me bloggers that are my new favorites. More than anything, I feel like this weekend was the opportunity to make new friends and really get to know people better. Meeting bloggers in person is a really fun experience. Everyone was really friendly and excited to be there. The energy is contagious!

Instead of doing a typical day by day recap, I am going to break down my trip into my favorite parts! If you are new to my blog (maybe I just met you!) I want to thank you for stopping by, I hope to see more of you! So, here is my first recap of my travels in Philadelphia.

One of my favorite things about Philly was the architecture. My undergraduate degree is in Art History… so I can’t help myself when I see a gorgeous Corinthian column!

I had lots of opportunities to explore this new city. Our hotel was walking distance to pretty much everything, making it really easy to see the sites in a short amount of time. The last shot is a panoramic shot taken  at the top of the famous Rocky Steps, which I never knew was the entrance to the Philadelphia Museum of Art! It was taken just after sunrise.  A gorgeous morning!
