Maine 2011

Chris and I had a fantastic time in Maine this year! Not only did we have a-m-a-z-i-n-g weather (80′s & 90′s!) but we had amazing company. His parents, cousins and grandparents were there – so lots of chatting and floating happened. A friend from across the lake had an awesome 10 person float where many lovely hours and tasty drinks were consumed. 8-)

We had the best time- I finally finished rereading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (on the kindle!), Buddy swam his little heart out, and I have a tan for the first time in what seems like years!

Sadly, there were no moose sightings this trip! Oh well- there is always next year! :)

NYC is the biggest collection of villages in the world!

We arrived later than expected on Friday night, so had to cram most of what we had planned into Saturday! We weren’t the only out of towner’s hoping to see the Christmas Tree, or go into the M&M’s store.. there were lines wrapped around buildings and mobs of people everywhere! If you are planning on going to NYC anytime in the coming holiday weeks, avoid peek hours, and dress warm!

We woke up early on Saturday morning and quickly found a nearby breakfast place, Izzy & Nats.

Sleepy Eyes & Morning Coffee!

I started off my day with a veggie scramble with home fries and rye toast

Chris got home made corn-beef hash, 2 eggs over easy & toast.

After finishing breakfast, we started walking Battery Park, it was beautiful early in the morning! There were SO many runners- and DOGS! More dogs than I would have ever imagined in the city.

Statue of Liberty in the distance!

After wandering around a little more we found ourselves in the World Financial Center, which has the beautiful Winter Garden and amazing views of ground zero.

After this we walked through China town and eventually found ourselves in Little Italy!

Stay tuned for lots more pictures, and even more FOOD!

The world is my oyster.. or my lobster..?

So… I had my first Lobster!

I had never had an actual lobster. Never a FULL BLOWN, still staring back at you kind of lobster.
It went from looking like the picture above.. to this lovely discombobulated creature below.
It was good. Or maybe it was the butter I dipped it in that was good. Hard to tell.
I found the process a little gross, and the whole cracking it open thing a tad traumatizing.
Oh well, we were in Maine! And thats what your supposed to do right??
Question of the day:
How do you feel about lobster? I’m still on the fence!

Small Falls

We visited Small Falls, Maine on one particularly gray day.
It was an easy hike with great views!

Maine hasn’t had any solid rain in quite awhile, so everything was very low!
I would love to see these again when there was more water flowing.
The area itself was kept in its natural state, so to get to the top of the falls, we had an interesting climb..!
It was worth it! We had a great time!
Chris always makes the goofiest faces when we take pictures.. but the last one there was a bug in his face.
 I will vouch for that!

Maine!

Chris and I will be headed to Maine until next Wednesday… so that means no internet! I will be back with tons of pictures and lots of stories. I hope everyone has a lovely week!

XoXo,
