Happy Martin Luther King day! I am lucky enough to have today off and have spent it laying in bed for an amazing amount of time, leisurely eating breakfast and enjoying two cups of tea while plowing through my 250+ posts in my feedly. During the week I only have time to read a few during the day, so sitting down and clearing out some of this has been nice.
Anyway, lets talk about changes! A few things I have mentioned here before, but other things I catch myself chuckling at everyday.
Like… drinking tea! I have always wanted to like tea. It was always something that I wish that I enjoyed. Apparently when coffee suddenly doesn’t taste like candy, tea is the way to go! I have been consistently drinking 2 cups of black tea a day and have been really liking it. I can honestly say that drinking tea is something that I plan on continuing after January 30th.
Other noticeably changes are my lack of cravings. I have them, sure. But they have noticeably decreased since starting this month. I have noticed that sugar is in EVERYTHING. Checking labels at the grocery store is mostly making sure that sugar isn’t hiding in something that you wouldn’t typically think. I used to eat greek yogurt and cereal everyday for breakfast. This was something that I did everyday for probably 5 years- it worked for me and kept me full. I cringe now when I think about how much sugar was in that raspberry greek yogurt and cereal. I know it could have been a donut, but thinking about it makes my teeth hurt.
I have always been a huge fan of food prep, but now that I have discovered how amazing and time saving quiche is, you can bet that I will have one in my fridge for easy meals throughout the week. Seriously it doesn’t get any easier than quiche.
Another awesome result of the Whole30 has been clear skin. Now that I am a little older I don’t see a ton of acne or anything, mostly it was dry spots and ashy skin. This month my skin has felt awesome. I don’t know if it is the increase in my water drinking, the healthy fats or the cutting out of dairy, sugar or gluten, but man. I still use coconut oil on my skin fresh of out the shower and a bit of aquaphor if I have a particularly dry spot, but my skin has felt awesome.
WHOLE30 DAY 18 EATS –
Lunch was on the go and nothing special- clementines and nuts while out and about. The above pork chop recipe can be found here. It was SO simple and delicious. And I ate mushrooms, shocked mom?
Things that I have been enjoying: The long weekend! I have been wearing my PJS for an obnoxious amount of time.
Things I miss: Baking.
How I have been feeling: I feel good! Only 11 days left!
