Remember that time that I ran a half marathon? I certainly do. I remember crossing the finish line and being so overwhelmed with emotion that I was in tears (or maybe that was my body being excited to be done?) ANYWAY. The next day I ran out and signed up for my next one. Of course, that is what people do when they run half marathons right? The next race was forever away. I had dreams of setting an amazing PR and then signing up for more races. Fast forward to today. I have not run more than 5 miles since training for my last long race in May. I am torn with what I should do…
I could run 7 miles this Sunday, 8 miles next Sunday and then reach the maximum of 9 before race day..? Hope for the best and keep chugging along? I think that may be doable. I am not completely out of shape, I have been keeping up with other shorter runs and incorporated biking and rollerblading into my workout routine.
Also, I paid for this race months ago. There are no refunds.
It is a local race and I would have the home advantage, but really.. this is going to be VERY hard! Not only is it 4 weeks until race day, but my classes and internship begin next week..hello stress! It may actually be therapeutic to attempt this while the semester begins, it would force me to take that time for myself and spend some time with my thoughts.
I suppose that I could always run/ walk the race and be satisfied? What do you guys think I should do?
If everything does work out and I happen to run another half, I think that this shirt will be totally necessary.
PS I do not advise being an idiot like me and put of training like this. This is just ridiculous.
