This past weekend I had a blast exploring Washington D.C with Jen. Jen was running the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler on Sunday, so we had the opportunity to explore on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
When we arrived on Friday afternoon, we stretched our legs from our 8 hour train ride by walked over 6 miles to many of the well known monuments throughout the city.
Our Hotel was a 10 minute walk to the National Mall, and first saw the Smithsonian Castle. There was a beautiful courtyard that was in full bloom. It was so refreshing to see flowers and green grass!!
The Washington Monument was amazing- you could see it from most points of the D.C. It worked as our compass back to the hotel!
After dinner at the Capital City Brewing Company (where I had an amazing Cherry Blossom Ale) we continued our walk. We found The White House at dusk. It was beautiful! We then continued on to the Lincoln Memorial, which was my favorite. It was breathtaking.
After covering about 6 miles, we headed back and rested up for day two!
