After indulging a bit over vacation, I have decided that I need to amp up my fitness regimen and get into better shape. Not only have I finally rejoined the YMCA (weight training!), but I have started doing Hal Higon’s intermediate 5K training program with Chris. We are a couple days into it and I am excited to see what kind of difference is made by actually using a training plan.
Interval training is really hard! I found that the hardest (and sweatiest) workout I have done in a long time! I have found recently that I have developed much more stamina than I thought with my running performance. I never thought that I could run more than a 5k- but the firecracker 4 proved me wrong! About a week ago Chris and I set out for a 5 mile run. I felt amazing! We ran at a relatively slow pace (Just under 12 minute miles…) but we did it! We only walked for a short period after mile 4. I felt so elated after finishing those miles. I finally felt like a runner. I am really excited that Chris is doing this training plan with me. I run alright on my own, but find that I do much better when I have a partner! Stay tuned for updates and other running related posts.
